Classes and Age Groups
Lebeor School of Art works with children and teens from 1st-12th grade. Our classes are divided as follows:
1st-3rd grade
4th-6th grade
7th-10th grade
9th-12th grade
Students are grouped with age and skill-level appropriate peers, and they still receive plenty of one-on-one interaction with a qualified instructor.
Our youngest students explore various arts and crafts under the guidance of a teacher, and they will use colored pencils, gouache, watercolors, and experiment with other materials.
As students gain confidence and knowledge, we introduce new materials, concepts, and projects. By the time your child is in high school, they will be able to receive an assignment from us, come up with a unique idea, and see it through from conception to completion.
Different Mediums and Techniques
Exploring Many Techniques
At Lebeor School of Art, we believe in giving students the tools to explore a wide variety of artistic mediums and techniques. From the basics of sketching to more advanced painting and mixed media, our curriculum is designed to inspire young artists from 1st through 12th grade.
Your child will learn foundational techniques like sketching and still life drawing – this teaches form, perspective, and shading. As students progress, we introduce painting with watercolors and gouache to add an element of texture.
As we reach the middle and high school levels, we explore more advanced mediums, including pastels, pen and ink, and acrylic painting. We encourage our students to push boundaries and combine techniques to create exciting mixed media projects that reflect their artistic voice. Still life drawing and other fundamentals still remain a focus along the way.
Whether a student is building a portfolio for art school or simply enjoying their artistic journey, our focus on traditional mediums helps them develop a well-rounded skill set that they can carry into future creative endeavors.
Focus on Exploration and Creativity
While we do teach fundamentals and foundational skills, we never stop encouraging our students to explore their own ideas. We want students to use our teaching to find their own artistic voice. Look through our student portfolio pieces to see just how creative they can be.
Middle School, High School
& College Readiness
We prepare students for the rigorous admissions process of middle schools, high schools, and colleges with a focus on the skills needed for art-based entrance exams. Our readiness classes cover still life drawing, composition, essay writing, and portfolio development – all necessary for admissions to schools like Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Murrow, and Art & Design in New York City. If you have a high schooler interested in art colleges such as the School of Visual Arts (SVA) or Pratt Institute, we offer one-on-one portfolio reviews. We can also help students refine their observational drawing skills through model drawing classes.
